Lunch time walks #2

I'm thinking that a weekly theme is developing here "Lunch time walks". What do you think? It just seems like a natural progression since I carry my camera with me everywhere during my lunch breaks.

In the last couple of weeks I've been challenging myself  to play with the never used F22 aperture and go a little darker. This has been inspired by my latest works on Instagram (check out the feed here) using my iPhone. So as a result, shadows of strangers and silhouettes were born. Honestly it's much easier to take these images on an iPhone, it's not so obvious when you have a tiny phone pointed at strangers. But I really needed to step it up and use my canon mark II. It's good to step out of my comfort zone every now and then.

So, it's a little surreal but tomorrow I'm off to Sean Flannigan and Jonas Peterson's workshop in Brisbane for two days. It hasn't quite sunk in yet. I've been a big fan of Sean's work for many years and I saw Jonas's first feature on Polkadotbride when I was planning my own wedding a few years ago, knowing that he is going to be big. Now they're both recognised all over the world and I (yes ME with a big squeal) get the most amazing opportunity to learn from both of them. No words.

I know this workshop is going to take me to a whole other level. Prepare yourselves for a fresh Farrah.

  7. Firstly, can I be your apprentice? How did you get all these seriously awesome photography skills?! Secondly, just letting you know I've tagged you for a meme Jean Williams came up with: book spine poetry. Only if you want to and have time. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

  8. The shadows you produced in this expirement make it seem a little film noir, maybe even if we take a modern example then some kind of mexican cinematography, like you can feel the rebellious air in a bright day, but are actually walking in a dark alley. very inspiring, also regarding the fact I can see in the previous post you take "perfect" photos with "correct" exposure and everything. Much like seeing Picasso painting in realism after seeing one of his surrealist/cubist works :)
