I'm thinking that a weekly theme is developing here "Lunch time walks". What do you think? It just seems like a natural progression since I carry my camera with me everywhere during my lunch breaks.
In the last couple of weeks I've been challenging myself to play with the never used F22 aperture and go a little darker. This has been inspired by my latest works on Instagram (check out the feed here) using my iPhone. So as a result, shadows of strangers and silhouettes were born. Honestly it's much easier to take these images on an iPhone, it's not so obvious when you have a tiny phone pointed at strangers. But I really needed to step it up and use my canon mark II. It's good to step out of my comfort zone every now and then.
So, it's a little surreal but tomorrow I'm off to Sean Flannigan and Jonas Peterson's workshop in Brisbane for two days. It hasn't quite sunk in yet. I've been a big fan of Sean's work for many years and I saw Jonas's first feature on Polkadotbride when I was planning my own wedding a few years ago, knowing that he is going to be big. Now they're both recognised all over the world and I (yes ME with a big squeal) get the most amazing opportunity to learn from both of them. No words.
I know this workshop is going to take me to a whole other level. Prepare yourselves for a fresh Farrah.
Love these.

ReplyDeleteand I really like how you're challenging yourself to use smaller apertures.. same here. But it's not going too well!
wonderful shots, really need to get out with my camera more often... do you carry your mark II everyday to the office with you? and... have so much fun at the workshop, how amazing is that?
ReplyDeletelove the light and shadows. beautiful shots.
ReplyDeletehave a great time at the workshop!
Love!! Shadows are so fun!
ReplyDeletelunchtime walks, I ADORE the idea!!!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, can I be your apprentice? How did you get all these seriously awesome photography skills?! Secondly, just letting you know I've tagged you for a meme Jean Williams came up with: book spine poetry. Only if you want to and have time. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteThe shadows you produced in this expirement make it seem a little film noir, maybe even if we take a modern example then some kind of mexican cinematography, like you can feel the rebellious air in a bright day, but are actually walking in a dark alley. very inspiring, also regarding the fact I can see in the previous post you take "perfect" photos with "correct" exposure and everything. Much like seeing Picasso painting in realism after seeing one of his surrealist/cubist works :)
ReplyDeleteI love these dark shots and silhouettes - they're so moody and dramatic! I came across your gorgeous blog via Sunny and Scout and have really enjoyed reading through your last few posts. Am your newest follower and can't wait to see more of your gorgeous photography, it's wonderfully inspiring! Hope you're having a lovely weekend!
