Film lately.

I still love film but it's incredibly challenging to find the time between motherhood and wedding season. Whenever I'm facing a creative block I turn to film. It makes me think about each image, it challenges me and it reignites whatever it is inside me that loves this photo gig.

A few raw scans below, various films used with my mamiya.

Counting the days until Mexico. Hola!

A few more days until I leave for Mexico with Wayne. I'm shooting a wedding there of the most wonderful couple Jess & Damien, they are really really wonderful, so wonderful that they're happy to have me bring along my husband to the wedding. YES. This means that he can be the bag carrier (insert evil laugh).

I just received a big package from B&H of all the glorious film that I'll be taking there with me. I promised myself that I must not come back with any unused film. EEEEP so excited.

Meanwhile, I am working my butt off trying to get as much work out of the way as possible which means late night sleeps. I'm actually looking forward to the plane ride so that I can do nothing but chill.

The photos below were taken in San Diego in an area called Old Town which has heavy Mexican influences.

A few film snaps on my Mamiya from my trip to Guangzhou!

Paris on 120 Film | Kodak Portra 400 | Mamiya M645

I'm going through a bit of a travel bug at the moment, so it's only fitting to share more travel photos! When we went to Europe last year, I carried a Mamiya, a Canon MKII and my iPhone. I kinda wish I only took my film camera, it was really just such a delight to spend time on each photo in contrast to snapping a million on my digital.

In saying that, I also wish I took more film in Paris but I was rather sick and wasn't feeling up for it most of our stay and sadly it was raining most of the time.

We stayed 9 days in Paris at the beautiful Hôtel du Panthéon which we absolutely loved. We thought staying in it was far less touristy. It was close to Rue Mouffetard which has some amazing selections of restaurants, cafe's, butchers, bakeries and by far the best creperie at Chez Nico. The first photo below is Wayne and I after a long day shopping around Paris, ended up back at a cafe on Rue Mouffetard called "Le Verre à Pied" which we then found out was a used in the film Amelie, one of my favourite movies!

How beautiful is Paris?

xx

Santorini & Athens on Kodak Portra 400 and Tri-x 400 | Mamiya M645

What can I say? If there was one country I would go back to over and over it would be Greece. The people, the food, the culture...everything is just amazing.
The first few photos are of my husband who was absolutely captivated and totally impressed by a guitarist playing in one of the laneways in Athens, he was from Bulgaria trying to make ends meet. Wayne spent so much time getting to know him. So after a while I took out my Mamiya and took some photos. I'm so glad I did.

Kate | Mamiya with 120 Kodak tri-x film.

I can't believe it took me this long to develop this film, I took it all the way back in February. I was doing a fun shoot with my friend Kate, and I know a lot of you have seen this shoot here, it's one my favourite shoots ever. It was only up until the last few minutes that I remembered I had my Mamiya in the car, so I grabbed it and took a few snaps.

Oh boy, these are unedited and I am in love. Film grain, dust, the lot is just magical.
