I've had this post in my drafts for a long time. I originally hadn't posted it because well, I'd forgotten about it and secondly I thought it was too simple and completely unedited apart from the black & whites. But I decided just now that I'm satisfied with that. I wish my current life was a little bit more simple.
These snaps were taken at the end of last year when my husband and I moved to Sydney for a short while (he is still there for work). We lived in the heart of the city (Pitt Street) and lead a very relaxed simple life. Boy I wish I could travel back in time!
These were taken around The Rocks. I'm in love with this cosy location in Sydney. Full of old buildings, cafe's, markets, hidden lanes and live music. Too bad we didn't discover this place sooner!
It must be explained, the first photo is my husband tightly holding on to the nut shop bag full of smoked almonds (our latest obsession). And the second photo makes me giggle, Sydney roads are so complicated :)
This post makes me miss him. A whole lot. Let's hope he returns at the end of April xx.
PS. Technical stuff.yew! When I was in Sydney, I set out a challenge to only use my 50mm1.8...so that's all I've used here.
xoxo
Farrah
What a beautiful post. The images are beautiful...I like the idea of using only one prime lens...I do this a lot, it creates a nice challenge. Boo to living apart, not good at all, we did this for a while - I'll never do it again, I hope he returns for good soon. xxt
ReplyDeleteI only use primes so it's always a challenge! but someone on FB challenged me to just use a 50mm for a while so I did that. I actually loved it. Ah I hope he returns soon too! you are the sweetest xx
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Farrah. These images are so beautiful. I hope your husband is able to come home soon, too. Praying for strength and peace for you both!
ReplyDeleteIn Christ,
Jess
Oh thank you Jess, I hope he comes home soon! thank you for your prayers :)
DeleteI think I just discovered my new favourite blog. Farrah - your photos are divine. I'm intrigued x
ReplyDeletesorry Farrah - that above comment was from me - Jodi
ReplyDeleteI love The Rocks! and your images are beautiful :) I will have to go out with my D for another wander there and take some photos. As for the "look right" signs, I will say that they are good for D as he is still used to being in the Land of the Right Side Drivers :)
ReplyDeleteHope your time apart from your husband isn't too unbearable and that you see him again before you know it (I totally sympathise!).
I'm new to photography and am really enjoying your photos. It's funny how you set yourself a challenge to use just the 50mm, my photographer friend today said how it's the only one she took with her overseas and loves to use it all the time. I hope your hubby comes home soon, it's not fun being apart from your love.
ReplyDeleteI always love your photo stories. There's something so peaceful about your photography style. I love it. It must be so hard being apart from your husband. I hope he comes back soon. x Kiki
ReplyDeleteStunning photos Farrah! I love your take on Sydney :D
ReplyDeleteGlad I found your stuff (or vice-versa, rather). Super nice. Love the Opera House shots & hanging vine.
ReplyDeleteSo very glad I stumbled upon this space today! What a lovely shoot. Your photos are simply stunning! :))
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, I loved the Rocks when I visited Sydney in January! And I love the 50mm lens, the depth of fielsis lovely, I really really need to get myself going and buy one - finally! :)
ReplyDeleteI keep coming back to this - that last shot /pairing is genius.
ReplyDeleteThank you Oli, I spent forever trying to get the lines straight - then realised the building was actually not straight >_<
